Exam time...

Well I am presently amidst exams. Even though I only need a few marks to pass each course, it is still a hassle to go through.
I am amazed by how much I reminisce of Gaspe, old times with friends, and highschool during my week of exams. I really don't know why I do it. I guess, it has something to do with the time growing shorter to leave for home. Whatever it is though, I like it.

Seems as if everyone is spurring around the fact that my bestfriend/classmate is engaged. I've known for over a month now, but the word is out now and has spread like hot cakes. What is my view on it? I'm excited! Always good news to hear someone is engaged to be married. Two people love each other, what more can you ask for...eh? Anyhow, kudos to you pal, and I'll be glad to see you this summer.

Summer weather

21 degrees today in Ottawa! Very surreal, because back home they are still driving ski-doos. Ha!

This is a capped picture from my video camera. It is looking outside from my apartment onto the tennis courts. I am using my new wide-angle/fisheye lens. Gives the picture a sort of circular enclosed effect. Very awesome!!

This is my new skate deck. Just went and bought it yesterday. What a weird experience with the workers at West49. I suppose I should abstain from including all workers there, because I'm sure some of them know a bit.

The feller who served me, was lost. Ha! Thats the best way I can put it. He kept telling me all about each deck, and how each one was different and how they had different shapes and shit. HA! And this was after I had told him that I have been skating for 10years! Its amazing how they can hire people that know didley shit, but yet inform every kid and adult who comes in there on what to buy. Just doesn't add up for me, ya'know.

Anyhow, thats what you get for going to West49. But hey, they had some good prices on decks, and I picked up this sweet 10yr anniversary Jamie Thomas.

Yea..

Just a new song by Lifehouse, that I find has some nice lyrics.

What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right

Cruisin'...

'66 Shelby Mustang. A beautiful car, and one of my favorites. I love how they didn't need to build it up to be a "super" muscle car.
It had its own category, which was sleek and secret. Two racing stripes were its only flair, and it wears them proudly.

More and more I've come to realize that a car that is not "dressed" up looks the best. No loud noise, no stickers, no crazy rims. Just smooth lines in the metal, a low profile and a basic paint job. Now that is classic.

New Trucks

Decided it was time for some new trucks.
Has been about 3years on the old set. So, I opted for a new set of Independents. They have been around for over thirty years with an almost flawless design.

I hope they hold up well, and that this summer has some good skating weather.
Mine are the black set. Posted by Hello

Zered

Fascinating photo! The way Zered is captured here, against a bright/dark backdrop really emphasizes the 3D look of the picture. The lighting is spot on.
This is a photo I could stare at for an indefinete amount of time. The speed, the lights, the angle of approach, the marks on the wall, the style. Completely amazing. Posted by Hello

The Bourne Chronicles

w/ S. Bourne

“Man is the only animal whose interest and drive are outside himself.” —Steinbeck

"It is when I am alone that I am at peace with the world. There is no one to be judged and no one to judge me. Things and people are virtually non-existent without judgements. There is no code or file to define their place among men…and men are so eager to place themselves, to make their mark. Many men fight hard for fame, but few for greatness. To be alone with one’s self is truly great, just walking, thinking—being. When I am alone I can hear myself. The man I am, just is. He doesn’t feel some strange outside desire to express his feelings or beliefs to his peers, or to support his ideals in front of others. He just builds and destroys himself with thought. He does not lust for what he cannot see or cannot love—it is not on his mind. There is no room for things with no use, and the superficial part of myself that may wish to prove himself to the world falls sound asleep under the spell of self-security. I am full of life, and at that moment not even death is a concern. If I were to die I would die with a man who is at peace, a man who knows himself as well as the beauty and splendor of the world, a man who sees life, even in its worst moments, as a gift. That man is myself.

There is no lonelier man than he who has lost himself, so much that he requires the company of others to assure him of his greatness and is forced to die with nothing and no one. That is what it means to know Hell—to be soulless—to die with a million men chanting your name and nobody holding your hand.

Here, when I am alone, it is my soul that keeps me company, it is the nature of man that becomes me. I know who I am, and I am unconcerned with proving that man to men who do not know themselves."

Grimsby

Summer of 2003 I went to St. Catharines, Ontario to skate. I guess you could call it a summer sabbatical. Ha!

Anyhow, this is one of the skateparks I went to. It is located about 25min outside of St. Kitts, in a quaint little town called Grimsby.

When Derek and I first arrived at the park, it was complete havoc. Bikers everywhere. However, after some mindless rolling around, everyone knew their place and it was on like Donkey Kong!

The big angled ledge in the top center took some severe abuse. The concrete, however, was fairly rough. So we just went faster!!! Haha!

If I would have only had my camera with me that day. Floating ollies off that 3-sided pyramid. Fuckin' Epic!

Magic I tell ya, magic!!! Posted by Hello

The movie you secretly love...

Three Ninjas!!! Rocky, Colt, TumTum. Ready to whoop some ass in the neighborhood?!?

Everyone saw this movie as a kid. Why? Because of the ninjas! Everyone wanted to be ninja at some point of their childhood.

I remember they had a cool trampoline in their bedroom also. And some type of alarm system too.

This is just a random cap from the video. Check that kid furthest on the right. With that smug look on his face, you just know he's ready to drop the gloves any time. And with his cap pulled down like it is, you can tell he was really the ring leader. They all answered to him. Hahahaa!!!!!!

Crank it up

I love my old boombox. Even though this picture isn't it, it looks very similar.
A sunny day, an old beat up boombox, just 'a' blarin' music!

It is the makings of a great summer.

Last summer Derek made a cassette tape full of excellent beats<<(Got to use that word in the precense of "Boombox") to skate to. It was rad.

Prof. Lamy

This picture is absolutely hilarious!!! One of my Profs. used it in his Powerpoint presentation for Social Psych, and I laughed so hard.

I guess it was just one of those, "you had to be there" type of jokes.

Quotes...

I've got so many quotes, I might as well post a few. I've gathered them throughout the years. Some as mementos, others as reminders of the past.

"Reality is nothing. Dreams are real." - Tupac

"Good grades are a poor substitute for a lack of common sense or the ability to learn new things." - SnoWest

"Hey, what are you going to do with all your money?" "Buy booze!!! Lots of it!!" - Tony Trujillo (after winning Vans Triple Crown).

"A lot easier to use your head, than your back" - Anonymous

Cali

This is a park I skated in Petaluma, California. It was an old park with a lot of flow. I met a cool guy there named Jay or Chris or something. Still have his email address somewhere.
Hopefully someday I will see it again. Check out that death rail in the upper left corner.
That was fun. Posted by Hello

Uncommon!!!

Some elderly Gaspé music. Better get out your juice harp and washtub and string, because this here party is 'bouts to begin! HA!

I's The B'y

Lyrics

I's the b'y that builds the boat
And I's the b'y that sails her
I's the b'y that catches the fish
And takes them home to Lizer.

Chorus: Hip yer partner, Sally Tibbo'
Hip yer partner, Sally Brown
Fogo, Twillingate, Morton's Harbour
All around the circle!

Sods and rinds to cover your flake
Cake and tea for supper
Codfish in the spring o' the year
Fried in maggoty butter.

I don't want your maggoty fish
That's no good for winter
I could buy as good as that
Down in Bonavista.

I took Lizer to a dance
And faith, but she could travel
And every step that she did take
Was up to her knees in gravel.

Susan White, she's out of sight
Her petticoat wants a border
Old Sam Oliver in the dark
He kissed her in the corner.
